Everything Pallet Control Tower does today
Every feature listed below ships in Desktop V1.0.0, tested and delivered — nothing on this page is a future promise.
Every screenshot below is a real capture from Desktop V1.0.0. Company and partner names shown are sample data, used for illustration only.
Oversight & control
Before anything else, you need one place that tells you where things actually stand. The dashboard brings pallets in circulation, overdue balances and exposure together in a single live view — so a status check doesn't require assembling numbers from five different places.
Dashboard
- The problem
- Getting a straight answer on pallets in circulation, overdue returns and exposure usually means pulling numbers from several places.
- The solution
- A live dashboard surfacing pallets in circulation, return rate, overdue consignments and value at risk, with trend and breakdown charts.
- The benefit
- One screen to see where things stand — without assembling it yourself.
Consignments & returns
Every exchange starts with a consignment and (usually) ends with a return. This is where that cycle is recorded, scanned and reconciled — including the Excel import that brings your existing history in rather than starting from zero.
Consignments
- The problem
- Tracking which pallets went out to which customer, and when, usually lives in someone's memory or a scattered spreadsheet.
- The solution
- Log every consignment with date, quantity per pallet type and reference in one structured record.
- The benefit
- A clear, searchable record of every pallet you've sent out — never reconstructed from memory.
Returns
- The problem
- Partial returns get lost between emails and paper slips, so outstanding balances drift from reality.
- The solution
- Record returns in one or several steps against the original consignment; the balance updates immediately.
- The benefit
- An outstanding balance you can trust, per customer, at any moment.
QR code scanning
- The problem
- Re-typing consignment numbers on the warehouse floor is slow and a common source of entry errors.
- The solution
- Scan a QR code tied to a consignment to pull it up or confirm it instantly.
- The benefit
- Faster, more accurate data entry where the work actually happens.
Excel import
- The problem
- Years of pallet history already live in spreadsheets — starting over means losing that history.
- The solution
- Import existing consignments from a spreadsheet, with analysis and validation before anything is committed.
- The benefit
- You keep your history and go live without starting from a blank slate.
Stock & inventory
Knowing what you have, by depot and by pallet type, is the foundation everything else is built on. These modules cover opening stock, movements, physical inventory checks and pallet condition — so stock numbers reflect reality, not just the last entry made.
Current stock
- The problem
- Knowing how many pallets of each type you actually have, right now, often means calling around.
- The solution
- See current pallet quantities by depot and by type in a single view.
- The benefit
- An answer to "how many do we have" in seconds, not phone calls.
Opening stock
- The problem
- Starting to track stock mid-operation is hard without a clean starting point to count from.
- The solution
- Record an opening stock baseline per depot and pallet type when you start using the system.
- The benefit
- Every movement from day one is measured against a real, known starting point.
New entries
- The problem
- Pallets coming in from a non-consignment source — a purchase, a transfer — don't fit a "return" record.
- The solution
- Record a direct stock entry separately from the consignment/return cycle, with its own reference.
- The benefit
- Stock stays accurate even for movements that aren't a customer return.
Movements & ledger
- The problem
- When stock doesn't add up, finding out what actually moved and when takes real digging.
- The solution
- A complete, chronological ledger of every entry and exit, available to reconcile any discrepancy.
- The benefit
- A full movement history on demand, instead of a reconstruction exercise.
Inventory
- The problem
- Reconciling a physical pallet count against what the system says is normally a manual, error-prone exercise.
- The solution
- A dedicated inventory ledger to check recorded stock against what's physically on site.
- The benefit
- Confidence that recorded stock reflects reality, not just the last entry made.
Empty pallets
- The problem
- Not all empty pallets are equal — usable, damaged, or awaiting a decision — and that distinction is easy to lose.
- The solution
- Track empty pallet inventory by condition — available, damaged, pending — per depot.
- The benefit
- You know exactly what's actually usable, not just a total count.
Pallet types
- The problem
- EUR, CP3, H1 and other pallet types carry different value and pooling rules that spreadsheets rarely separate cleanly.
- The solution
- Maintain a structured list of pallet types, used consistently across every consignment, stock entry and report.
- The benefit
- Every number in the system is broken down by the pallet type that actually matters to your exchanges.
Traceability & disputes
When something goes wrong — a damaged load, a disputed quantity — you need a record, not a memory. Disputes are logged and followed through to resolution, and the audit trail keeps an immutable history of who changed what, and when.
Disputes & claims
- The problem
- A damaged or disputed pallet exchange often gets tracked in a side conversation, disconnected from the record.
- The solution
- Open and follow a dispute — type, compensation, status — tied directly to the consignment it concerns.
- The benefit
- Every disagreement stays documented and resolvable, not lost in an inbox.
Audit trail
- The problem
- When a number doesn't match, knowing who changed what, and when, is often impossible after the fact.
- The solution
- Every create, update and delete is logged — who, what, when, from where — searchable by table, action and date.
- The benefit
- A real audit trail to answer "what happened here," not a reconstruction.
Partners & fleet
Pallet exchanges involve more than two parties — customers, carriers, drivers, trucks and depots. Keeping a structured directory of each means every exchange can be traced back to exactly who and what was involved.
Customers
- The problem
- Customer details end up duplicated across spreadsheets and email threads, drifting out of sync.
- The solution
- A structured customer directory, linked directly to every consignment and balance that concerns them.
- The benefit
- One place to see a customer's full pallet history and current balance.
Carriers
- The problem
- When a pallet goes missing in transit, knowing which carrier handled that leg isn't always obvious after the fact.
- The solution
- Maintain a carrier directory and attach the responsible carrier to the relevant exchanges.
- The benefit
- Accountability you can trace back to a specific carrier, not a guess.
Drivers
- The problem
- On recurring routes, knowing which driver actually handled a given exchange gets lost once the paper trail disappears.
- The solution
- Keep a driver directory so individual exchanges can be tied to the person who handled them.
- The benefit
- A level of traceability spreadsheets don't naturally keep.
Trucks
- The problem
- A dispute over a damaged load is harder to resolve without knowing which vehicle was involved.
- The solution
- Maintain a truck directory and link vehicles to the exchanges they were part of.
- The benefit
- One more data point available the moment a dispute needs resolving.
Depots
- The problem
- Multi-site operations tend to track stock per site in separate, disconnected files.
- The solution
- Define your depots once and use them consistently across stock, consignments and reporting.
- The benefit
- A single, comparable view across every site instead of one spreadsheet per location.
Analytics & reports
History is only useful if you can read it. Filterable reports turn raw records into return rate, aging and financial exposure figures — exportable when leadership needs the summary, not the spreadsheet.
This capture is from an earlier internal build and still shows locked panels from a tiered structure that no longer exists. The current license includes every analytics panel shown.
Analytics & reports
- The problem
- Building a return-rate or aging report for a review usually means exporting data and rebuilding it in Excel.
- The solution
- Filterable reports — return rate, aging buckets, top customers and depots — with PDF and Excel export built in.
- The benefit
- Reporting that's ready when you need it, not assembled the night before a meeting.
